Business Updaterrr

Hi everyone!  It’s been an exciting few months on the business front here in Bolivia.  In addition to Bolivia’s Best Coffee and alpaca scarves, we’re exploring new opportunities that will allow us to provide homes to even more children.  Here’s a quick update on everything from tree farms to exporting classic vehicles from Bolivia:

  • Balsa and Teak Tree Farms:  Look for opportunities to participate in our upcoming Trees 4 Tots program!
  • Cattle:  Now that we have land available, we’ll be offering the opportunity to purchase a cow for one of IOU’s kids.
  • Fish:  We currently have three ponds constructed, and we’ll be starting our first crops of tilapia and tambacu soon.
  • Restaurant:  IOU is opening a restaurant, managed by our volunteer Kathryn Gurley (a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America).
  • Air Tranport:  To support our orphanage resupply trips to remote regions, we’re now exporting good from local residents back to Cochabamba.
  • Vehicle Export:  Cochabamba is teeming with classic Land Cruisers and Volkswagens – soon we’ll be exporting these refurbished vehicles to the US.
  • Pork:  In addition to cattle, we are now raising hogs to supplement orphanage operating expenses.

Sound interesting?  We always welcome assistance in developing marketing plans and growing these businesses.  Drop us a line if you’d like more information!
